BEACON PROJECT INTERPRETATION CENTRE
AT SIMILAJAU NATIONAL PARK HQ

BINTULU, SARAWAK 2016

The Biodiversity, Environmental and Conservation (Beacon) Project at Similajau National Park (SNP), Sarawak is a collaborative venture between Malaysia LNG, a subsidiary company of PETRONAS and Sarawak Forestry, aimed at helping Sarawak to conserve its marine resources.

IMPACT DESIGN, working with architectural firm Atelier Timur Sdn Bhd, was assigned to give the SNP headquarters a new facelift, aimed at improving visitors’ experience and to make the interpretation centre an attractive facility for visitors.

The centre is an educational facility for the public to learn about the treasures of SNP such as its rich flora and fauna. The Beacon Interpretation Centre complements the natural environment of the Park to improve the learning experience of visitors.
