A visitor centre is a facility where visitors can obtain information on tourist attractions and other venues of interest. A good visitor centre design is one that is attractive, innovative, welcoming and informative. It is the first stop before visitors embark on their journeys into the attraction itself.
The Importance of Proper Visitor Centre Design and Content Planning
In 2018, we were given the opportunity to work on a special project for Taman Negeri Endau Rompin (TNER) Rainforest Discovery Centre in Pahang, located within one of Malaysia’s premier rainforest reserves, the Endau Rompin National Park.
We believe that every visitor centre should be attractive, interactive and informative in order to create an engaging and memorable experience for the visitors. Hence for TNER, we created a centre to spark the visitors’ interest to explore the natural beauty of this national treasure. This is also an important component of the National Park facilities especially to those who find the actual exploration of the Park to be physically challenging. For that, they are able to experience the key attractions within the comfort of this one-stop centre.
We included some features like augmented reality, interactive displays and educational games on touch screens that are suitable for visitors of all ages. For this project, we have also produced digital contents such as drone videography, projection mapping along with various game interfaces.
