BROOKE DOCKYARD INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE MUSEUM
KUCHING, SARAWAK 2026
The Brooke Dockyard Industrial Heritage Museum project reimagines a historic industrial site into a dynamic centre for heritage, learning, and tourism. Established under the rule of the Second Rajah, Charles Brooke, the dockyard was once the heartbeat of shipbuilding and repair in the region.
The revitalised space retains its striking industrial character, with soaring ceilings, preserved machinery and shipyard tools. IMPACT delivered the museum’s interior exhibition fit-out, combining original machinery and artefacts with graphics, film, sound and interactive media. Our work also extended to exhibition elements within the full-scale reconstruction of the Zahora vessel, one of the museum’s main attractions.
Themed galleries trace the story of the dockyard, its people, and the evolving cityscape of Kuching. Through film, sound, text, and imagery, the experience celebrates Sarawak’s maritime legacy—conjuring the energy of a working dock while opening pathways for
discovery, dialogue, and imagination.
